AMY

I loved you more than any man
Has ever loved a woman or girl,

Your auburn hair was like liquid gold --
Each silken tress, ringlet and curl,

I must not have known you completely --
You felt that you couldn't stay,

Would that I could be with you again
Before my spark of life ebbs away,

The twinkle that I saw in your eyes of blue --
Azure like a jewel beyond compare,

Is even missing from my fondest dreams --
There's only vague emptiness there,

Things will be different if we meet once again
This side of that great divide,

We may, hand in hand, cross the last frontier
And take our earthly emotions inside.
