AWASH IN A SEA OF WORDS

I have an unabridged dictionary,
It weighs about fifteen pounds,

Gives all the meanings of thousands of words
And even rules as to the sounds,

Noah Webster started in all --
America's foremost lexicographer,

Later, the dictionary of Oxford English
Was started by an English editor,

James Augustus Henry Murray,
In England 'way back when,

Knighted as Sir, he got half way thru it,
His time ran out and then

It was published in 1928 --
His successors finished the task,

Be you British or American, when it comes to words,
You will always know whom to ask.
