My Grandpa, long, long years ago
Had some hens that liked to lay

Double-yolked eggs, I guess they are
A rarity even today,

Once, a farmer came to Grandpa's place
For a dozen cackle-berries from the folks,

Granddad asked, nonchalantly,
Whether single or double yolks,

The man said, "Double," thinking it was a gag,
He'd never heard of a dozen per year,

He almost swallowed his dentures when
Grandpa held them out and said, "Here."
