Thirteen feet, six inches, the recorded height of the truck,
Thirteen feet, nine inches, said the sign where it was stuck,

The old familiar underpass, East Sprague and South Division,
How could such a thing happen? Well, it takes a person with vision

To realize that a mere three inches is not a thing you can bank on,
Some drivers hold their breath and duck their heads, if they've got hats on,

Division Street slopes downward on a gentle south to north grade,
The overpass is sitting level, so where were the measurements made?

Three inches of clearance may be missing at the low side or even the middle,
Maybe the street sign makers gave up on trying to solve the riddle.
