I'm a comely young lady with hair of ashen gold,
Am pursuing a job suited only for men, I'm told,

Twenty-one years on this earth have I,
Locomotive Engineer -- the title for which I vie,

I am dressed and ready for the road and I am able,
It beats baking cookies and setting the table,

We're climbing up a grade, I'm thinking "Easy does it" thoughts,
My mentor is breaking me in, we go by miles per hour, not knots,

When I'm qualified, I'll be the only female in my field,
I will rule the right of way out here and never have to yield.
