I lie and listen as the breakers come ashore,
It's happened for eons -- the ocean's roar

Convinces me that time will never stand still,
Even when I'm here on earth no more,

Oh, beneficent Father, I perceive your great power,
And wonder if, in creation's final hour

The power that You wield had been slightly diminished,
Did You have a plan for me -- a tiny earthbound flower?

Would it be a puzzle -- time, space and space-time,
A need for submission, reasoning and rhyme?

I trust and know You made the physical laws
That Einstein would master in one brief lifetime.
