Dear God, I thank You for the brilliant sunrise --
I feel no pain or glaring needs.

My path throughout these sixty-plus years
Has crossed verdant fields without any weeds.

The noontime beams of your yellow sun
Find my thirst for bread and honey fulfilled,

Tho at times I've walked the Earth alone
I felt close to Thee -- only good things You willed.

Now the evening of my years is at hand --
Ranking high on a scale from one to ten.

If this day be the last of my life, dear Lord,
I shall die, I know, the happiest of men.
