THIRD FINGER, LEFT HAND

What do you mean, "Make my brown eyes blue?" --
Loretta's sister, Crystal Gayle,

Your eyes, you floor-length haired, young beauty,
Are already blue-steeled and pale,

How many more sisters will you bring out to thrill us
With the Grand Ole Opry's charm?

Maybe one day we'll greet the fortunate one
Who guides you by the arm,

We had Loretta, then Crystal -- now Peggy Sue --
Triumvirs, I guess we could call them,

By the look of the third finger of your left hand --
It shines like a diamond diadem --

There must be two crystals wherever you go --
Both sparkle -- no hearts could be truer --

One of them glitters and shines with personality --
The other makes my blue eyes bluer.
