THOMAS ALVA (EDDY'S SON?)

Thomas invented the light bulb,
That all the world might see

In a world of darkness and then refused
To generate power, you see,

He had not the foresight to recognize
The meaning of his invention,

To be a tycoon, a capitalist
Was not his immediate intention,

He did the same thing recording sound,
Then relegating it to a toy,

The most significant invention
In all of his many, the old boy

Had no appreciation for his own inventions,
Still he patented them just the same,

Like Henry Ford, his personal friend,
Rejoiced in perpetuating his name.
